At New York Comic-Con 2022, DC introduced its new Superman series following the events of Dark Crisis, unveiling a series of new images, including the cover of the upcoming Action Comics #1051, featuring the Superman Family with a brand new, dramatic new look.

The cover includes the Twins, accompanied by Clark Kent, front and center. Hovering to his immediate right is Jon Kent in a new suit. Behind him, on the far right is Super-Man of China. On Clark's left is Supergirl, who has ditched the cape and has added a third color to the scheme. On the far left is Superman and Lex Luthor clone, Connor Kent, now wearing a sleeker jacket. Behind them all is Natasha Irons' Steel, daughter of John Henry Irons, now wearing a hood.

Speaking at NYCC, where CBR was present, Action Comics writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson stated he is working closely with Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths writer Joshua Williamson and Son of Kal-El writer Tom Taylor to create more adventures for DC's Super Family, teasing, "There's a lot of stuff we have planned." At the panel, Johnson also confirmed that the Action Comics title will start focusing on the entire Super Family and its watch over Metropolis. While few precise details were announced, the writer did confirm John Henry Irons' family will play a key role in the series.

Speaking on its themes and the new format of Action Comics, Johnson said, "My one-word mission statement for Action Comics in 2023 is 'Super-Family,' and I draw inspiration from the 100-page Giant ‘Superman Family issues... We're giving everyone in the House of El their own role and personal journey while still keeping Superman at the forefront, and tying all the Super-titles together in a way that’s reminiscent of the Triangle Era. I couldn’t be more excited to be part of this new era of Action Comics, and doing it alongside such a consummate artist as Rafa Sandoval and comics titan Dan Jurgens truly makes it a once-in-a-lifetime experience."

Staring with Action Comics #1051, the series will begin offering fans three separate stories in each issue. The main story in the upcoming issue will be written by Williamson and will see the Man of Steel face off against Metallo in a story that explores Superman's place in the aftermath of his battle with Lex Luthor in Action Comics #1050.

Action Comics #1051 releases January 24, 2023, from DC.
