The following contains spoilers for Superman #2, on sale now from DC Comics.

Clark Kent undergoes a monstrous, body horror transformation in his new solo series.

Written by Joshua Williamson and illustrated by Jamal Campbell, the issue falls into the ongoing series' "Night of the Parasite" arc. The powers of Rudy Jones, AKA the energy-draining villain Parasite, have been altered so that instead of stealing others' abilities and/or growing in size, he now multiplies and creates clones of himself. Clark learns the hard way in Superman #2 that Parasite's new powers can also alter people, turning the Man of Steel and his loved ones into Parasite creatures by the end of the issue.

Weakened by the Parasites, Superman communicates with the rest of the Super Family and learns that its heroes have forged an ice wall around Metropolis, trapping the growing Parasite army within the city while evacuating its residents. However, Superman's son, Jon Kent, says he couldn't find his mom, Lois Lane, so Clark rushes to find his wife. The hero does locate Lois, but sees her transformed into a Parasite before he begins to become one himself. It is then that Superman discovers the Parasites are creating microorganisms too, changing Metropolis' citizens because "They're in the air."

Superman Is Facing Lex Luthor's Own Villains

Superman #2 reveals that the "Secret Order of Mad Scientists" is behind Parasite's new powers, but not all its members fancy that name. This gaggle of villains includes Task Force Z's Delia and Amelia Shelley, as well as the newcomers Graft and Dr. Pharma, whose next diabolical experiment involves a Bizarro clone. Superman's nemesis, Lex Luthor, has revealed that the Order comprises his own enemies, not the Man of Steel's, and the group appears to be making moves in Metropolis now that Luthor is incarcerated.
