DC has given CBR an exclusive first look at Superman and the Authority #3, by Grant Morrison and Mikel Janin. Not only does the preview grow Superman's budding team, but the pages also tease his upcoming fight with the Ultra-Humanite.

Beginning with Kal-El failing to stop the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963, Superman and the Authority #1 saw the Man of Steel recruiting Manchester Black to help save the world. The second issue of the series assembled the rest of their team, bringing in Natasha Irons, Apollo, Midnighter and Enchantress.

The unlettered preview for Superman and the Authority #3 features the team coming together, and teases what readers can expect from the upcoming issue. Lightray, for example, is teased in one of the later pages, indicating she may be joining the team in the future. And no matter who they recruit, Superman is going to need all the help he can get, as he and his team will be going up against the Ultra-Humanite and his goons. One page in the preview even seems to tease a showdown between the Ultra-Humanite and Superman in the Fortress of Solitude. That page, which is the last of our first look, displays the Man of Steel attacking the Ultra-Humanite with his Supermobile.

You can see CBR's exclusive look at Superman and the Authority #3 below, alongside DC's solicitation information for the issue. Delayed from its initial release date of Aug. 17 to Sept. 14,  Superman and the Authority #3 will feature covers from Mikel Janin and Simon Bisley.

  • Superman put the Authority back together, but why? What threat is out there that only this group can contend with? The Ultra-Humanite, of course! This fearsome foe is forming a team of his own, one designed to go fist-to-fist with the Authority. It will be their baptism in battle to prove if Superman is right that regardless of who we are, there is a hero lurking inside even the worst of us.
  • This penultimate issue is an important chapter in the new Superman mythos, helping to set up where Clark Kent goes next…and who he goes there with.
