Famed animator and writer Genndy Tartakovsky recently revealed unused artwork for a short Superman cartoon that ultimately never aired.

Tartakovsky posted the artwork on social media-- a simple image of the Man of Steel taking flight. He explained, "Once upon a time I was asked to do some Superman short cartoons…and well as sometimes these things go, it went away. But here are some never before seen drawings."

It has been revealed in the past that Tartakovsky was at one point set to produce a short animated film for Warner Bros. Animation's DC Nation line on Cartoon Network. However, the project was ultimately scrapped during development. DC Nation launched in 2011 and offered audiences a variety of classic DC superheroes re-imagined by different figures in animation.

Tartakovsky is known for his work on a number of iconic series such as Samurai Jack, Dexter's Laboratory, Star Wars: Clone Wars and more. Current projects include Primal, a mature animated series created and directed by Tartakovsky for Adult Swim. The series began airing in October 2019 and received critical-acclaim upon release from critics and audiences. Primal has won three Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation and has been renewed for a second season.
