Artist Mikel Janín has shared a new piece of art that reveals his character designs for Superman and the Authority."The new Authority designs!" Janín wrote on his Twitter. Included in the Authority's new roster are founding members Midnighter and Apollo, as well as the mystical villain Enchantress and psychic antihero Manchester Black. However, the two standouts are Lightray and a new OMAC, the latter of which appears to be a muscular woman wearing heavy power armor with the OMAC symbol.RELATED: The Man of Steel Goes Gray in Bryan Hitch Superman and the Authority Variant

OMAC has undergone multiple incarnations in the DC Universe. The original OMAC, or the "One Man Army Corps," was created by Jack Kirby in 1974 and focused on a futuristic super-soldier. The concept was later reworked into the Observational Metahuman Activity Construct in The OMAC Project miniseries by Greg Rucka and Jesus Saiz; the new OMAC's were human beings transformed into cyborgs with the purpose of assassinating all metahumans on Earth. The OMACs were created by the Brother Eye satellite created by Batman, who gained sentience thanks to Alexander Luthor during the events of the Infinite Crisis miniseries. The new OMAC's origins remain a mystery, although her armor seems like an update of the original's.

Lightray is confirmed to be Lia Nelson, who is known as the Flash of the Tangent Universe. The Tangent Universe was created by Dan Jurgens in 1997, and true to its name featured a universe that went off on a "tangent" where different characters inherited the mantle of DC's heroes. Nelson, who is a famous model/actress in her universe, is composed of pure light, which grants her superhuman speed and flight alongside energy projection. Her new moniker "Lightray" is also in use by one of the New Gods with similar abilities.

Rounding out the new Authority is Natasha Irons, aka Steel, and Superman himself. The Man of Steel is sporting a short-sleeved uniform with a color scheme and symbol similar to his Kingdom Come suit. Superman and the Authority will see Superman assembling a new Authority alongside Black as they combat the Ultra-Humanite.

Written by Grant Morrison and illustrated by Mikel Janín, Superman and the Authority #1 goes on sale on July 20 from DC Comics.
