WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for "Heritage," the latest episode of Superman & Lois, which aired Tuesday on The CW.

The CW's Arrowverse continues to expand with the debut of Superman & Lois. The series, which premiered last week, introduced the Kent family -- Clark Kent, Lois Lane and their twin boys Jordan and Jonathan -- as they decided to move from Metropolis to Smallville. From the get go, Superman & Lois was billed as a show about family, and this is exactly what the pilot delivered. The CW series kicked off with a strong focus on the two parents and their children, all while allowing Superman the chance to shine as a superhero like he never has before in the Arrowverse.

But the Man of Steel is only one half of Superman & Lois. With its latest episode, "Heritage," the series lives up to the promise of its title by proving that it's as much about Lois Lane as it is about Superman.

In the series premiere, Superman & Lois focused largely on the threat of the Stranger, a mysterious villain who has been revealed to be from another universe. But even while Superman dealt with him, Lois Lane already found herself chasing a new story for the Daily Planet -- a story involving the rich, powerful and increasingly dubious businessman, Morgan Edge. Edge owns the Daily Planet, and he has grand plans to bring jobs to Smallville. Only Lois knows the danger he represents, and she is determined to expose him for what he really is.

Now, in "Heritage," Superman once again goes up against the Stranger while Lois continues to go after Edge. The investigative reporter writes an article meant to tear Edge down but, as the owner of the Daily Planet, he rewrites the piece -- an offense Lois doesn't take lightly. In fact, she quits her coveted job at the Planet, and starts working for the Smallville Gazette, an outlet where she knows she won't be censored.

Moving away from Metropolis and losing her job is a huge change for Lois, but it's all part of a larger story that is all her own. In fact, while she consults Clark every now and then about what's happening, Lois' crusade against Edge is mostly a solo adventure -- just like Superman's confrontation with the Stranger. With this latest episode, Superman & Lois has given both title characters their own respective villains to go up against.

This proves that the CW series isn't all about Superman and Superman alone. He is only half of the series. Lois has her own story that is just as crucial to the overall narrative of Superman & Lois. This dual focus gives the character of Lois Lane the platform she deserves. In the comics, Lois may not have super-strength, but she is a force to be reckoned with nonetheless. And on the show, she's getting the chance to prove just that.

Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch, Dylan Walsh, Alex Garfin, Jordan Elsass, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Inde Navarrette and Wolé Parks. The series airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
