The latest volume of Superman hits its milestone 25th issue this September, and DC has provided a first look at the upcoming, oversized issue, which features a threat the Man of Steel has never faced before.

Ahead of its full, advance solicitation information for its titles going on sale this September, DC has released the cover of Superman #25, by Brian Michael Bendis, Ivan Reis and Joe Prado. The issue has Superman face a new extraterrestrial threat known as the Synamar, dead-set on eradicating all life on Earth.

"I can't wait for fans to check out this issue," Bendis declared in a statement. "Ivan Reis returns for this issue and this is some of his best work I've seen yet. Along with that, we're introducing a new surprise or two and a new threat, Synamar."

"Synamar comes from a part of the galaxy so alien and so remote that his connection to Superman would seem impossible at first," continued Bendis. "It’ll take all the experience and lessons Superman’s learned throughout his entire life to stop Synamar from destroying everything he’s sworn to protect.”

The solicit information and cover illustrated by Reis and Prado are below.
