Netflix started cutting its ties with Marvel Comics ever since the announcement came that Disney+ would be the exclusive home to new Marvel content when it launched later in 2019. While Netflix still had the right to create more Marvel content for its streaming service, they decided to make the move to start canceling the Marvel Netflix shows one by one.

However, while there will be no more episodes of Daredevil, that does not mean that the content will disappear as Netflix still owns the rights to the Marvel shows produced under its banner. Add in the great superhero shows from the CW and network television that airs on the streaming giant, and there is a lot to choose from. Here is a look at the 10 best superhero shows on Netflix.

10. DAREDEVIL

10 Best Superhero Shows On Netflix

The one that started it all for Marvel and Netflix's relationship is still the best superhero show produced for the streaming service. Daredevil took a hero that many gave up on after the Ben Affleck movie and made him gritty, exciting, and overwhelmingly great.

Charlie Cox was great in and out of the mask and Vincent D'Onofrio was possibly the best Wilson Fisk that fans will ever receive. While the second season was a bit of a letdown, it finished strong in its third season with its take on the Born Again storyline, allowing the Devil of Hell's Kitchen to go out just as strong as he was when he roared onto Netflix.

9. JESSICA JONES

10 Best Superhero Shows On Netflix

Jessica Jones shocked a lot of comic book fans when the show arrived on Netflix and received widespread critical acclaim, presenting a strong, independent and very unique female superhero with some very real problems. Krysten Ritter was fantastic as Jessica Jones, a private investigator with a dark past and a strong reliance on alcohol to help her cope with everyday life.

The handling of the Purple Man was also well done, as that could have gone off the rails in today's #MeToo world. At the end of the day, this was one of the best superhero TV shows and it was great because it was nothing like any other superhero TV show airing today. The second season wasn't as good as the first, but it was still quality television and there is one final third season coming in 2019.

8. PUNISHER

10 Best Superhero Shows On Netflix

Almost everyone knows who The Punisher is. There had been three movies starring Dolph Lundgren, Thomas Jane, and Ray Stevenson. That made the fact that Jon Bernthal came in and made the role his own so surprising. He had a lot of fans from his role as Shane on The Walking Dead but even Ray Stevenson received flack for his performance, despite his previous success on Rome.

Bernthal got his start in season 2 of Daredevil, but when he got his own chance to shine in the first season of his own series, he really lit things up. This was The Punisher fans always wanted to see and Marvel did it again. The second and likely final season airs this month.

7. LUKE CAGE

10 Best Superhero Shows On Netflix

Marvel fans got excited when it was announced that Power Man and Iron Fist would get their own superhero shows on Netflix. They came separately, with Luke Cage getting great reviews and Iron Fist getting shredded by critics and non-comic book fans who wondered why he wasn't Asian. While Iron Fist improved by leaps and bounds in the second season, the first keep it off this list.

However, Mike Colter was amazing as Luke Cage in both seasons of his superhero series on Netflix. He delivered the Cage that comic book fans knew and the action and story of his rise to become Harlem's protector was perfectly told. It was a worthy follow-up to Daredevil and Jessica Jones.

6. ARROW

10 Best Superhero Shows On Netflix

Much like Daredevil was the superhero show that started it all on Netflix, it was Arrow that kickstarted everything on The CW. It was such a huge success that it spawned four follow-up shows, three of which have crossovers with it every year. Stephen Amell stars as Oliver Queen -- the Green Arrow -- in this superhero show that airs on Netflix after each regular season ends.

Arrow is currently in its seventh season and the first six are all available to stream on Netflix. Fans can catch up on how Queen survived a boating accident and learned how to fight and defend himself so he could return and protect his city from criminals -- both the superpowered and the everyday villains.

5. FLASH

10 Best Superhero Shows On Netflix

While Arrow has a lot more human villains than superpowered villains, Flash goes all in on the superpowers despite existing in the same world. The world of Flash was set up in science, where an explosion at a scientific lab turned many people in the vicinity into superpowered beings.

Barry Allen received the power of super speed and became the hero of Central City. He soon developed his own team that has changed over the years due to some becoming villains, some perishing and others leaving for other shows. He also crossed over with Arrow and has become the catalyst for some multiverse fun over the years. The first four seasons of Flash are on Netflix.

4. SUPERGIRL

10 Best Superhero Shows On Netflix

Supergirl is an interesting television show. It started out as a network show on CBS and while it had a ton of fans praising its fun and fresh storylines, it did not last there. Luckily, The CW was there to take it in and then they placed the series in the same world as Flash and Arrow.

This was an interesting decision, though. Thanks to the speed force and the multiverse introduced in Flash, The CW was able to have the characters cross over to each other's shows despite the fact that Supergirl does not exist in the same universe as Flash. It also gave them the freedom to introduce their own version of Superman. The first three seasons of Supergirl are on Netflix.

3. DC'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW

10 Best Superhero Shows On Netflix

While Black Lightning is also a superhero show on Netflix, it gets much less attention than others, although it is well worth the look. However, one show that is highly underrated and deserves a lot more viewers than it gets is DC's Legends of Tomorrow. This is a very fun show that has a lot of characters from Arrow and Flash teaming up for time traveling adventures.

Bad guys like Captain Cold and Heat Wave are good now. Fun characters like Atom and Firestorm are along for the ride. The series even brought in the fantastic Constantine after that character's own TV show was canceled after just one season. This might be the most fun a person will have while watching a superhero show on Netflix.

2. AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

10 Best Superhero Shows On Netflix

It seems almost hard to believe that Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is the same show that was met with critical disdain and fan disappointment when it premiered. It somehow managed to weather the complaints and developed into a great show that has just gotten better every year since its debut.

There are now five seasons of this superhero show on Netflix and each one just ups the action and intrigue and has been so great lately that it just refuses to die. If you have never seen an episode of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., don't let the first season deter you and push through. It is well worth it.

1. GOTHAM

10 Best Superhero Shows On Netflix

When Gotham first premiered on FOX, there were a lot of complaints. People didn't understand what the purpose was in watching a Batman television series that did not have Batman in it. Now, the Batman was there but he was a teenage Bruce Wayne. Instead, the hero was a younger Jim Gordon and his rise in the ranks of the Gotham City Police.

Over the years, the mythos created in Gotham has developed a life of its own. It isn't the same Joker, Riddler, Penguin and Catwoman that people know, but the characters are so strong that it doesn't matter anymore. With No Man's Land starting this month as the final season, it is time for people to finally give Gotham a try. The first four seasons of this superhero show is on Netflix.
