Melissa Benoist, known for her roles on "Glee" and the upcoming "Supergirl," will star in the Universal Pictures/Blumhouse Productions drama "Lowriders," Deadline reports.

The film follows a teenage boy from East L.A. who finds himself caught between his father and estranged brother who have both entered the annual lowrider "Supershow." Cast as character named Lorelai, Benoist  joins Demian Bichir, Eva Longoria, Tony Revolori, Gabriel Chavarria, Theo Rossi and Yvette Monreal.

Lily Collins and Nicola Peltz were originally in talks for the role. This won't be Benoist's first Blumhouse production, as she also had a role in the Oscar-nominated "Whiplash."
