SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "Back From the Future -- Part One," the latest episode of Supergirl.

Supergirl's Winn Schott didn't just become a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes -- he married one, too. After photos from the episode showed him wearing a wedding ring, Winn confirmed he married Lightning Lass and started a family with her.

In "Back From the Future -- Part One," the latest episode, Winn returned from the 31st future when his doppelganger Toyman put his future in jeopardy. He arrived in a frenzy, so frantic that he missed his shot and Toyman managed to escape. By the time Alex and Kara got to him, he was so desperate to explain the trouble he was in that he blurted out a mention of his wife Ayla and daughter.

"If he hurts someone, my life is over," he yelled. "Everything! I will lose everything. My wife, my daughter... That's my wife, Ayla. Mary is going to be two in April."

Ayla, of course, is a longtime Legionnaire. Introduced in 1963's Adventure Comics #308 by George Papp, Ayla is the twin sister of Garth Ranzz, aka Lightning Lad. The Lightning twins grew up on Winath with their brother Mekt, who went on to become the villain Lightning Lord. Like her siblings, she received her powers after they crashed on the planet Korbal, where a herd of Lightning Beasts imbued them with electricity-based powers. She initially joined the Legion in honor of Garth after he was killed by Zaryan the Conqueror. She has also gone by the moniker Light Lass and displays a variety of abilities, including electrokinesis and energy absorption.

As the episode progressed, Winn revealed he named his daughter after his mother, though "Kara was an option... Ayla pushed for it. But if I'm being honest, in the future, Kara isn't exactly what you'd call an original name choice -- parents naming their children after the legendary Kara Zor-El."

Ayla wasn't the only Legion of Super-Heroes character Winn referenced in the episode. In a heart-to-heart with Brainy, he revealed he fought Brainy's cousin: "Everything I've done in my life has been in defiance of [my father's legacy]: joining the Super Friends, running off the future with the Legionnaires to fight your cousin and stop him."

Of course, by the 31st century, there were many members of the Brainiac family. It is possible this mention was a reference to Vril Dox II or Lyrl Dox, who also featured in the Legion of Super-Heroes comics. Hopefully, Winn will offer more details about this in the next episode.

Airing Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers, David Harewood as Martian Manhunter and Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers.
