If the costumes of the Legion of Super-Heroes are any indication, the 31st century of The CW's Supergirl isn't the bright, optimistic place it's traditionally depicted as being in DC Comics. Following the debut on Mon-El's Legion costume on Monday, new photos for the Arrowverse drama's midwinter premiere offer the first look at Amy Jackson as Imra Ardeen, aka Saturn Girl, in her Legionnaire attire.

There's also a better look at Jesse Rath (Defiance), who made his debut as Brainiac-5 last week in an extended promo for the Jan. 15 episode, "Legion of Superheroes."

In Legion comic books, the telepath from Titan is typically depicted in a red-and-white or magenta-and-white costume. On Supergirl, however, she trades in that brighter palette for black or dark blue (similar to Mon-El), and a dark purple. Her "belt buckle" retains an homage to Saturn, though, depicting the ringed planet.

Supergirl has teased the eventual introduction of the Legion of Super-Heroes, DC's team of teenagers from the 30th/31st century, since Season 1, when viewers glimpsed an iconic Legion Flight Ring. The group finally makes its debut next week, when it's called upon to help battle Reign. Presumably more members will arrive as the show's third season unfolds.

Returning Monday, Jan. 15, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist, Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh, Jeremy Jordan, David Harewood, Chris Wood, Katie McGrath and Odette Annable.
