Photos from Supergirl's 2017 premiere episode show the Girl of Steel standing side by side with director Kevin Smith.
After a two-month long winter hiatus, the CW's "Supergirl" will soar back onto small screens on January 23 with an episode directed by none other than Kevin Smith. The director was first attached to a “Supergirl” episode way back in August, and we’ve followed his journey behind the camera over the last few months — from Smith learning the title of his episode to him presenting the cast and crew with a wrap present.
Now, with the episode's air date just two weeks away, we finally know more about what the episode will look like. The first photos from the episode, which is titled "Supergirl Lives," feature the characters described in the episode's recently released synopsis. Supergirl and Mon-El are trapped on an alien world at the mercy of Roulette (Dichen Lachman), with Alex (Chyler Leigh) and Winn (Jeremy Jordan) tagging along as well. The photos also show Kevin Smith's daughter Harley Quinn Smith in her guest role as Izzy. On top of all that, there are even a few behind-the-scenes images from the shoot showing director Kevin Smith standing side-by-side with Supergirl. If you've been waiting to see Silent Bob team up with Supergirl, well, this is what it would look like.
SUPERGIRL LIVES
KEVIN SMITH DIRECTS; ROULETTE RETURNS -- Kara (Melissa Benoist) is moved by the story of a missing woman named Izzy (guest star Harley Quinn Smith) and decides to investigate despite Snapper Carr's (guest star Ian Gomez) order to leave it alone. Kara takes Mon-El (Chris Wood) with her to the last place Izzy was seen and the duo find themselves thrust through a portal to another planet, Slaver's Moon, where the downtrodden are sold as slaves. The leader of the trafficking ring is none other than Roulette (guest star Dichen Lachman). To make matters worse, Slaver's Moon has a red sun, which means Kara and Mon-El are stripped of their powers and stuck on the planet with no way home. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Alex (Chyler Leigh) blames herself for Kara's disappearance, fearing she's become too focused on her new relationship with Maggie (guest star Floriana Lima) and too complacent in watching out for her sister. Kevin Smith directed the episode with story by Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Eric Carrasco & Jess Kardos (#209). Original airdate 1/23/2017.
Starring Melissa Benoist as the Girl of Steel, "Supergirl" airs Mondays at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW. The series also stars David Harewood as Martian Manhunter, Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers and Jeremy Jordan as Winn Schott and features appearances by Calista Flockhart's Cat Grant as well as Tyler Hoechlin's Superman.
