With the arrival of Jon Cryer as Lex Luthor, a lot of Supergirl fans have been wondering when they'll get to see Superman finally interact with his archenemy. However, it appears that confrontation will not take place this season.
ComicBook.com reports that Supergirl executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller confirmed in an interview that Tyler Hoechlin will not be reprising his role again in Season 4.While this doesn't mean he's gone for good, it does mean he won't be standing up to Luthor any time soon.
It appears that Superman will instead remain in Argo City alongside Lois Lane, where the two left for after the events of Elseworlds earlier in the season. It seems pretty likely that Hoechlin will return for next year's Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, but it's not clear if Lex will still be around by then. However, with Supergirl standing in the way of any schemes Lex has for the world, the villain will still have a Kryptonian to contend with.
Airing Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers, David Harewood as Martian Manhunter, Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor, Jesse Rath as Brainiac-5 and Nicole Maines as Nia Nal. The next episode, "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" introduces Jon Cryer as Lex Luthor.
