WARNING: This article contains major spoilers from "It's a Super Life," the 100th episode of Supergirl.

Supergirl's 100th episode just changed the nature of Kara and Lena Luthor's relationship -- again. In "It's a Super Life," Kara made one thing very clear to Lena: if she continues to act like a villain, she will be treated like one. This stunned Lena and, according to showrunners Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner, this will lead to some much-needed introspection on the younger Luthor's part.

Speaking to CBR, Queller and Rovner explained why Kara's frank discussion with Lena was a "necessary step" in repairing their friendship -- if such a thing is possible, of course. They revealed how quickly Lena will grapple with Kara's major admission, as well as their favorite moments from the episode. They also discussed Leviathan's rising threat, Brainy's difficult position and more.

CBR: What was your favorite moment or scene from the 100th episode?

Robert Rovner: My favorite is the timeline where she tells her at the very beginning, and we get the wish fulfillment of a Luthor and Kryptonian as partners, but then we also see the consequences of that. One of the things we talked about in the abstract is this idea that Kara's identity is important to keep safe, because other people can be harmed -- if other people knew about it, that they could become targets themselves -- and show the consequences of that. That was important for us to tell as well, so that it's not just the abstract. It's a meaningful secret to keep.

Jessica Queller: My favorite scene, aside from every moment that Mxy is with Kara together, is the catharsis at the end when Kara finally lets go of the guilt and can say, "Look, I own my part in the mistakes I've made and I have made my apologies over and over and I'm done. You can accept it and we can move forward or you can not accept it and continue to wreak havoc and I've hit my limit of regret and guilt and now I'm living in the present and I expect you to as well." I think that was really empowering and a very exciting scene.

Rovner: The other moment that really makes me feel happy is the last moment with our family of Kara, Alex and J'onn on the couch, eating all the food and having a French fry toast. I think it's a testament to all the show has been through, and yet here is this family that they've created bonded together and moving forward.

That last scene was both freeing and an emotional gut punch. How will it inform the series moving forward?

Queller: I think that it is a step towards them -- if they are ever able to, which I can't tell you -- repair their friendship, that is a necessary step. The complexity of female friendship is something we really wanted to explore this year and I think we've rolled up our sleeves and we have. We feel, as the writers, that there were shades of grey all along. Kara made mistakes, and she has regrets about how she handled things, but Lena also makes mistakes and how she's responded to Kara -- there are a lot of shades of grey, is the point. So I think there was the feeling that we had spent enough episodes with Kara beating herself up, beating herself up, beating herself up, saying, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry" and Lena feeling like this perpetual victim and they needed to get past that stage.

Rovner: The thing is, too, it frees up Kara but I think it's the first time for Lena that she is hearing something different, which pushes her forward to start to examine what she's been doing and the choices she's been making.

The 100th episode was, understandably, all from Kara's perspective, but how quickly will we see Lena grapple with her decision?

Rovner: In the very next episode!

We've been getting drips and drabs of information about Leviathan and Lex's place in all that -- how soon are we going to see that come to a head?

Rovner: I think things pick up steam from the 100th forward, and it's one continuous story. We're right back into Leviathan and Lex in the next episode, and that propels us to the season end.

Queller: And also, Robert and I have talked in the past about how we really wanted to explore Black Mirror type themes in this season and, after the 100th, we really have the real estate and the space to delve into those stories, which involve Leviathan.

On that note, poor Brainy is in a pretty difficult situation right now. Will we see things looking up for him soon?

Queller: Poor Brainy! He's such a good person -- Coluan . He has to get through some trials, but he'll get through them.
