Supergirl's Suit Has Some Powers of Its Own in S5 Premiere Trailer

Supergirl is getting a new suit in Season 5, and pants aren't its only feature.

In the extended trailer for "Event Horizon," the Season 5 premiere, Brainiac-5 reveals the Girl of Steel's suit has a superpower of its own: it materializes. Much like Iron Man's suit from the later Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, the costume appears to use nanotech to materialize whenever Kara wills it.

The trailer also highlights the brewing conflict between Kara and Lena Luthor. "I'm not a villain," Lena insists in a voiceover narration. "I don't want to kill Supergirl. I just want her to experience the same hurt she inflicted on me. Soon enough, she will."

Van Helsing star Jennifer Cheon Garcia also makes her Supergirl debut as Midnight, "a murderous villain released from an otherwordly prison to enact revenge against the person who put her there." The character, described as "the physical manifestation of darkness," hisses, "There is no hiding from Midnight" before she unleashes a raw burst of power at the Girl of Steel.

What's more, the trailer includes a cameo appearance from the Monitor, who will be critical to the upcoming "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover. However, the scene in the trailer appeared as a stinger at the end of Season 4 and no new footage was shown.
