Lex Luthor may face a different kind of defeat in Supergirl's new Season 5 finale now that the planned episode won't be finished.

The Season 5 finale was in the middle of filming, recurring guest star Jon Cryer told PeopleTV, when Warner Bros. shut down production on its shows in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. Consequently, producers opted to retool one of the final episodes of the season into a new finale. Some things from the planned finale will be incorporated, while others will be changed.,"[w]hich is interesting because the way my character was thwarted now doesn't happen anymore. So I was like, 'Oh, did I not get defeated? Wait a minute, I like this!'" Cryer said.
