The fan-favorite DCTV series Supergirl returns for its fifth season in the first week of October, and The CW has released the official synopsis for the upcoming season's second episode.
Titled "Stranger Beside Me," the Season 5 episode has Kara teaming up with Alex Danvers and Brainiac 5 to repel a new extraterrestrial threat, while the Martin Manhunter looks into mysterious Obsidian technology to solve a problem with James Olsen's sister Kelly.
Previously released official stills from the premiere episode display the team together at a theater facing an unseen threat, while the season's first official promo introduced the new villain Midnight, who may or may not be related to the new enemy. Season 5 also plans on introducing additional characters to The CW hit series.
