The latest promo teaser for season three of Supergirl officially introduces the rumored villain Bloodsport. The promo sees the Supergirl team assemble to take on the villain, whose civilian name is Robert Dubois.

In the comics, Bloodsport was a firearms expert with an extensive line of high-tech guns, some of which fired Kryptonite bullets. The character first appeared in Superman Vol. 2 #4 in 1987 and was created by John Byrne. A product of the time of publication, the Bloodsport of comics fame was obsessed with the Vietnam War after his brother returned from the conflict grievously wounded. Lex Luther preyed on Dubois’ weakened mental state to convince him to hunt down Superman with his Kryptonian-killing bullets.

Back in July, ScreenRant reported that casting was underway for the Bloodsport character. The description offers a glimpse at what may be the character’s revised background. If the character’s backstory remains unchanged, Supergirl fans can look forward to Bloodsport becoming a mercenary who breaks into his former base and steals equipment necessary to cloak an underwater nuclear device.

Returning to the CW on Oct. 9, Supergirl is a production of Berlanti Productions developed by Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and Andrew Kreisberg that stars Melissa Benoist, Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh, Jeremy Jordan, David Harewood, Calista Flockhart, Chris Wood and Floriana Lima.
