SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for “The Darkest Place,” the latest episode of “Supergirl.”

In "Supergirl" Season 1, Kara and Alex discovered that Alex's father Jeremiah Danvers wasn't dead, as previously thought. Since then, Kara and Alex have been searching for Cadmus, where Jeremiah has allegedly been held captive. Now, in "The Darkest Place," "Supergirl" has finally revealed what came of him.

Jeremiah -- who is played by "Lois & Clark" alum Dean Cain -- has been at Cadmus all along. After Kara was captured when she attempted to rescue Mon-El, Jeremiah rescued them both and smuggled them out of Cadmus. In his very brief appearance, Jeremiah looked whole and fine; Cadmus does have a penchant for physically altering its victims, like Metallo and Cyborg Superman, but Jeremiah at least appears untouched.

However, that may not be the case much longer, as he was discovered in his attempt to free Kara and Mon-El. The Cadmus agents opened fire on the two alien refugees, but they managed to escape unharmed. It's unclear what came of Jeremiah, as he was not seen again after Kara and Mon-El slipped out of the doorway. While the audience isn't clued in to what happens to Jeremiah after this, Lillian Luthor has been known to experiment on objectors, so it's entirely possible that he'll meet a similar fate.

During his brief time with Kara, he managed to convey that he was proud of who she and her sister had become over the years without him. When returned to her family and friends, Kara told Alex the news about her father, strengthening their resolve to find and rescue Jeremiah as soon as possible.

Though he's shown to be alive and well, Jeremiah's mere existence poses a lot of questions. What has he been up to all these years? Why was he unable to sneak a message to his family in that time? Was he afraid his daughters would come looking for him, as he knows full well what happens within Cadmus' walls? Does he know Lillian Luthor's plans? Was he complicit in her acts? We'll have to wait and see.

Starring Melissa Benoist as the Girl of Steel, "Supergirl" airs Mondays at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW.
