Things are heating up on "Supergirl's" second season, as tensions between Cadmus, the D.E.O. and Earth's population of extraterrestrial immigrants heats up. In next week's episode of the CW superhero series, director Kevin Smith will return to guide Supergirl into new territory as she becomes the target of a group of alien bounty hunters.

The episode, titled "Distant Sun," marks Smith's second turn behind "Supergirl's" camera. He previously directed the episode "Supergirl Lives," which aired just a few months ago in January. "Distant Sun" will be another action-packed installment in the series, and -- as the synopsis below reveals -- it'll also feature the return of Lynda Carter as President Marsdin.

A large bounty is put out on Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and aliens from far and near attack National City intent on taking out the woman of steel. Alex (Chyler Leigh) and Maggie (Floriana Lima) run into Maggie’s ex-girlfriend, Emily (guest star Hayley Sales), who is in town for a week. Hank (David Harewood) gets an interesting order from President Marsdin (guest star Lynda Carter). Kevin Smith directed the episode written by Gabriel Llanas & Anna Musky-Goldwyn (#217). Original airdate 3/27/2017.

Starring Melissa Benoist as the Girl of Steel, "Supergirl" airs Mondays at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW. The series also stars Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winn Schott, David Harewood as Martian Manhunter and Chris Wood as Mon-El.
