SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "American Alien," the Season 4 premiere of Supergirl.

The jig is up! The news is out! Supergirl's world now knows President Olivia Marsdin is an alien in disguise.

In "American Alien," the Season 4 premiere, Kara Danvers was introduced an anti-alien hate group with deadly intentions. Unsurprisingly, they have it in for President Marsdin, the driving force behind the Alien Amnesty Act, which allowed people from different planets to become American citizens. As such, the hate group staged an attack on the president's life, but her death was not wholly their intention.

During the attack, Otis Graves fired a shot off at Marsdin. He missed and Supergirl was able to apprehend him quickly, but the damage was already done. He and his sister Mercy filmed the attack with a drone and, in the footage, Marsdin can be seen changing into her true form for a fraction of a second. That quick transformation -- and the revelation that she was an alien all along -- was enough to make the national news.

As Kara had a heart-to-heart with J'onn, a breaking news story caught their attention. "Shocking footage acquired from the assassination attempt at Camp David has revealed that the president is an alien," the newscaster announced. "This confirms what many thought was the ravings of a fringe group. Experts have authenticated the footage and found no signs of doctoring. The President of the United States is an alien."

This will likely be the "shocking revelation" that "causes chaos in National City," per the synopsis for the season's second episode. With anti-alien sentiment on the rise, this revelation is sure to stir up some paranoia, resentment and fear. Further, since Kara is very much an alien in the public eye, she may have the deal with the consequences in a heretofore unseen way.

What's more, Marsdin's public outing will likely pave the way for the rise of Vice President Baker, as played by Babylon 5's Bruce Boxleitner. Vice President Baker is described as “adept and politically minded,” as well as an unlikely leader who “steps up in a big way when his country needs him most.” It is yet to be seen if Baker will help or hurt Supergirl's cause.

Airing Sundays at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW, Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers, David Harewood as Martian Manhunter, Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen, and Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers.
