The CW has teased that Supergirl's Season 3 rival may return when the show returns for its sixth and final season.Rumors began to circulate about Reign's return after the official Supergirl Twitter account shared an image on Christmas Day that featured Samantha Arias/Reign (Odette Anabelle) and Lena Luthor from Season 3. The shot was captioned, "Hopefully the forecast is more snow than Reign this year. Happy holidays!"RELATED: Supergirl's Final Season Needs to Make the Kara Danvers/Lena Luthor Ship Canon

Introduced in Season 2 of Supergirl, Reign was a weapon of mass destruction that was bio-engineered in a Kryptonian lab and sent to Earth. Reign was raised as a human named Samantha "Sam" Arias, who was ignorant of her alien origins and had a daughter named Ruby before her dark impulses started to take over.

While Sam was one of Kara Danvers' good friends, her alter ego Reign became Supergirl's main rival in Season 3 and eventually put Supergirl into a coma. After fellow Kryptonian Worldkillers Purity and Pestilence awoke, Sam realized she was stronger than she previously believed and started to fight against her dark alter ego. Sam ultimately defeated Reign and moved with her daughter to Metropolis. When last seen she was the CEO of the city's L-Corp division.

The post about Reign came just days after concept artist Greg Hopwood shared some of his unused work for Season 3 of Supergirl, which depicted the ceremonial wear of the High Council of Argo City. Posted on Instagram, Hopwood's art showed variations of a man and woman's outfit, with some featuring robes and capes. All of the outfits were accented in gold and featured the "S" family crest of the House of El. The outfits were reportedly considered for the storyline in which Supergirl and Mon-El (Chris Wood) traveled into space in hopes of finding the source of Harun-El.

In addition to his work on Supergirl, Hopwood has served as a costume designed on films and television series including including Birds of Prey: and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn, The Boys and Titans.

It was also recently revealed that Arrow actor David Ramsey will return to The CWverse (formerly The Arrowverse) in 2021 as a guest star and director. Ramsey will reprise his role as Diggle across five CWverse shows: Superman & Lois, Supergirl, The Flash, Batwoman and DC's Legends of Tomorrow. He will also direct five episodes on shows in The CWverse.

Returning to The CW in mid-2021 for its final season, Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers, David Harewood as Martian Manhunter, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, Nicole Maines as Dreamer and Jesse Rath as Brainiac-5.
