Fear and xenophobia have been strong, relevant themes within Season 4 of Supergirl on The CW and the Girl of Steel's alter ego as Kara Danvers is about to learn the consequence of giving National City's extraterrestrial residents increased exposure.

The plot synopsis for the fifth episode of the season, titled "Parasite Lost", reveal that Kara will begin to write a series of articles through her work at the news outlet CatCo to help give extraterrestrials on Earth a platform of increased visibility to mitigate humans fear of them. While successful in some regards, it unintentionally exposes the subjects of the articles to violent xenophobes.
