In "Homecoming," next week's episode of “Supergirl,” "Lois & Clark" star Dean Cain returns to National City. Cain plays Jeremiah Danvers, the adoptive father of Supergirl herself Kara Danvers and the biological father of Alex Danvers.

The episode sees Cain liberated from the clutches of the shadowy Project Cadmus, an organization formerly associated with the United States Government’s Department of Extra-Normal Operations -- that is, until it went rogue under the command of Lillian Luthor. To celebrate Jeremiah’s freedom, Kara (Melissa Benoist) and Alex (Chyler Leigh) plan a family dinner, but Mon-El (Chris Wood) appears suspicious and questions Jeremiah vigorously.

Cain has been with “Supergirl” since the show’s pilot back in 2015, but -- before that -- he was known for his role as Superman in the ABC show “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” which aired from September 12, 1993 to June 14, 1997. The series loosely adhered to Superman’s origin story, but focused largely on the relationship between the Man of Steel’s alter ego Clark Kent and Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane.

According to the episode synopsis,

When Jeremiah Danvers (guest star Dean Cain) is rescued from Cadmus, Alex (Chyler Leigh) and Kara (Melissa Benoist) are thrilled to have their father back. The Danvers arrange a family dinner to celebrate but things go awry when a suspicious Mon-El (Chris Wood) starts to question Jeremiah about his sudden return. Larry Teng directed the episode written by Caitlin Parrish & Derek Simon (#214). Original airdate 2/27/2017.
