Supergirl star Nicole Maines has teased the sizable role that Dreamer's visions will play in the upcoming latter portion of the CW series' current season.

Speaking with CBR, Maines addressed the lack of focus on Nia Nal's professional life as a reporter in season 5, stating that it had purposefully taken a back seat to put focus on her continuing journey as the superhero Dreamer. "Season 4 was all about reporter Nia blossoming into Dreamer, and now Season 5 has been more about Dreamer discovering really what she's capable of and what she can do," said Maines.

According to Maines, the end of the season will see Dreamer try to interpret the dreams she has been struggling with as of late, specifically the ones featuring Brainiac 5, by attempting to separate them from her personal life in an effort to discern which dreams hold meaning that she'll have to figure out, and which are simply her subconscious playing tricks on her mind.

"So this season, for Dreamer, it's really been about her learning to hone her powers and be able to interpret them more and so that's why I'm excited towards the back half of the season," said Maines. "Her dreams are going to play a bigger part."

Returning Sunday, May 3 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers, David Harewood as Martian Manhunter and Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers.
