SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "Blood Memory," the latest episode of Supergirl.

Supergirl's latest death just inspired Nia Nal to become a superhero. In "Blood Memory," the latest episode, Kara Danvers took a road trip to Nia's hometown for the annual Harvest Festival. As Nia confessed her dream powers to her mother Isabel, who shares these abilities, Isabel was bitten by a spider and died almost immediately -- but not before she encouraged her daughter to embrace her destiny.

"Blood Memory" introduced both Isabel and Nia's sister Maeve, who expected to become Dreamer. Feeling guilty, Nia approached her mother about transferring her powers to Maeve. However, Isabel insisted the daughter who became the Dreamer was destined to be so and that the powers weren't transferable. At that, Isabel's eyes rolled back into her head and she slumped in her chair; Nia, too, fell into a dreamscape, but not just any. She found herself in her mother's dream.

Isabel was surprised to see Nia there, but she quickly put the pieces together. Realizing she was dying, she told Nia not to worry and that she must embrace her destiny as Dreamer.

"You're the next Dreamer," Isabel told Nia. "Of course it's you. It had to be you... You are ready. My element was water. Yours is fire, and your fire will make you far more powerful than I ever was. It was your destiny to be my daughter, to be Dreamer. Life put you through many trials just to be who you are. It made you strong. That strength will serve you well as a hero, my Nia."

Isabel also made sure to visit her husband's dreams to pass a message along to Nia. "Your mom came to me, said this was for you," he said, passing her a box. At the end of the episode, Nia opened the box to discover Dreamer's costume inside. She will suit up for the first time in "Menagerie," the next episode, which airs on February 17.

Naturally, Nia's powers drove a wedge between her and Maeve. Maeve was greatly upset that Nia received the powers, not her -- so much so that she told Nia "you're not even a real woman." Heartbroken, Nia headed back to National City with Kara, who attempted to make her protege feel better. In a last ditch effort to cheer Nia up, Kara ultimately revealed her identity as Supergirl.

Airing Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers, David Harewood as Martian Manhunter, Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen and Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers.
