Move over, Supergirl -- there's a new superhero in National City! The CW has released a first-look photo of Nicole Maines' Nia Nal in costume as Dreamer, a superhero with clairvoyant abilities. The costume will debut in an episode titled "Blood Memory," which will explore Nia's backstory and powers.
The costume, which can be seen below, takes some inspiration from the comics. It leans into a silver motif shared by Nura Nal, who acts as the Legion of Super-Heroes' Dreamer in the 31st century. The Supergirl costume throws in some purple and blue accents, with the addition of a mask, belt and fingerless gloves.
"Blood Memory" will offer a glimpse of the costume at the end of the episode. Nia will suit up for the first time in "Menagerie," the next episode, which airs on February 17. Maines' Dreamer will be the first transgender superhero on television.
"I'm so excited! I'm trying to conduct myself on set in a professional manner and be like, 'Pfft! I'm not completely obsessed with the super suit!' But it's all I think about," Maines shared during a set visit attended by CBR in November. "Every morning I wake up and get a super suit. I'm going to sleep, I'm getting a super suit. So I'm really, really excited. It's going to be gorgeous! I have the best super suit. I do!"
Asked what it was like to put it on for the first time, she said, "Constricting. Tight. Well, for the first time, it was for a fitting... They have the model and they have your sizes but, when you first put it on in person, they kind of realize, like, 'Okay, this needs to go up more, this needs to be hemmed' or 'Wow! You can't get your arm through this!'"
