In anticipation of Supergirl: The Sixth & Final Season coming to Blu-ray and DVD next week, CBR has an exclusive deleted scene from Episode 16, "Hope For Tomorrow."

The final season of The CW's Supergirl saw the titular hero struggle with her dual identities of superhero Kara Zor-El and journalist Kara Danvers. With Kryptonian superpowers on one side and a responsibility to hold truth to power on the other, Supergirl was pulled between two very different ideas about how to help people and save the world.

In the clip, Kara (Melissa Benoist) gets into a disagreement with fellow journalist William Dey (Staz Nair) over how to write about the immensely powerful and misguided villain Nyxlygsptinz (Peta Sergeant), a conversation that shines light on the risks of using power to achieve any single-minded goal.

"[Nixly] is an example of what can happen to any of us when we get so fixated on a goal we lose sight of right and wrong," says William. "Look, we are all vulnerable to that sort of mistake, even heroes like the Superfriends."

"No you can't compare Nixly to the Superfriends," says Kara, visibly shaken by the comparison. "They would never lose sight of what is right and wrong. I promise."

By the end of the episode, Kara feels she cannot be both a superhero and an international reporter, and quits her job in journalism to focus on stopping Nixly. In the full context of the season and Kara's journey, the conflict from the deleted scene with William serves as a warning to Kara to not conflate focus and fixation. Ultimately, Season 6 was about Kara exploring her motivations, desires and true self.

Supergirl concluded on Nov. 9, 2021 after 126 episodes. The final scene showed Kara returning to the journalism field and announcing her dual identity to the world. The series made it clear that Kara's bravest act was not risking her life to save the planet, but actually trusting all the people she wanted to save. The deleted clip is an added example of how Kara's friends and colleagues helped her in building that trust.

Supergirl: The Sixth & Final Season is coming to Blu-ray and DVD on March 8 from Warner Bros Home Entertainment. The complete series will also be available for purchase on the same day.
