Concept artist Greg Hopwood shared some of his unused work for Supergirl, depicting the ceremonial wear of High Council of Argo City.

Hopwood's pictures, posted on Instagram, show variations of a man and woman's outfit in differing colors-- some with flowing robes and capes, some not. All are accented in gold and have the "S" shield, the family crest of the House of El.

Hopwood's images were created for the Season 3 storyline in which Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Mon-El (Chris Wood) travel into space seeking the source of Harun-El . In the episode "Dark Side of the Moon" they discover to their surprise that Argo City and its people -- including her mother, Alura -- survived the destruction of Krypton, and that Alura is a member of the high council.

Later, Superman and Lois Lane opted to move to Argo City to raise their unborn son, but the city was destroyed by a wave of anti-matter energy during the 2019-2020 Arroverse crossover event, "Crisis on Infinite Earths." Superman, Lane and baby Jonathan were rescued before the wave hit.

Hopwood has been costume designer for numerous movies and TV series, including Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn, The Boys, Titans, Inhumans, Doom Patrol and Star Trek: Picard.

Returning to The CW in mid-2021 for its final season, Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers, David Harewood as Martian Manhunter, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, Nicole Maines as Dreamer, Jesse Rath as Brainiac-5 and more.
