Supergirl kisses Brainiac 5 in front of the Legion of Super-Heroes - DC Comics

Supergirl and Brainiac 5 joined the Legion of Super-Heroes together. They began a relationship that lasted up until Kara's death in Crisis on Infinite Earths. It was hot and cold romance, with the two sometimes professing their love for each other, and sometimes writing it off as a childhood crush. The biggest obstacle was always the fact that one had to time travel to be with the other.

When Kara died, Brainiac took it very hard. What made it even worse was that the merging of the remaining realities wiped Supergirl from history. As it happened, some of his friends actually worried about Brainiac 5's sanity. Fortunately, there was a reprieve for the romance in the creation of Laurel Gand in the Legion's new history before Kara came back and their flirtatious romance was rekindled in 2010's Supergirl Annual #2.
