Move over, Supergirl! Alex Danvers is now a superhero in her own right.
On Instagram, Alex actor Chyler Leigh posted a photo of herself wearing a black-and-blue Supergirl costume. She also sports a new hairstyle: long black waves and bangs. The overall ensemble looks almost like an inversion of Kara's red, yellow and blue costume.
"If Alex could fly too..." Leigh captioned the image, tagging both the official Supergirl Instagram account and using the hashtag #SuperAlex. At the time of writing, Leigh has provided no additional clues to explain the photo.
However, the recent collapse of the mutliverse may have something to do with it. After all, in last week's episode, Team Supergirl encountered several doppelgangers of Brainy, who were transported to Earth-Prime through an inter-dimensional wormhole after "Crisis on Infinite Earths." Perhaps this version of Alex also managed to escape "Crisis" and will show up on Earth-Prime on an upcoming episode.
On the other hand, this could have nothing to do with "Crisis" and be part of an as-yet unrevealed plot device. Perhaps something causes Alex and Supergirl to switch places; this would certainly explain why Alex's new look mirrors Kara's, right down to the hair.
