Supergirl mainstay Alex Danvers will suit up as a masked vigilante in the Season 5 finale. After a brief tease in last week's episode, Kelly Olson actor Azie Tesfai confirmed Alex will make her debut as a costumed hero on Sunday.

"I have a scene -- the finale is in two days, I hope this is okay to say -- but I've kind of said it before when we shot it, because Chyler [Leigh] and I thought it was so cool, but Chyler and I have a scene in the finale that is pretty epic. The stunt double in the scene was a Cirque du Soleil performer. I think it'll be a fan favorite scene," Tesfai told CBR. "That's all I think I can say. But it is incredible. Kelly will get to see vigilante Alex for the first time in the finale, which is really exciting."

"It's cool! So cool. Chyler and I stood on set during rehearsal and our mouths were on the floor and we were like, 'We have the coolest job in the whole world!' It's crazy," she added.

In "The Missing Link," Kelly was the one who suggested Alex should mask up. After their missions went wrong, the couple expressed regret about rushing in. For Kelly, that meant she lost Andrea's confidence; for Alex, however, that meant putting someone else's life in danger. This led to Kelly's epiphany. When Alex joked about wearing a mask, Kelly insisted, "It worked for my brother. If you're going to be a vigilante, you might as well go all the way."

This seems like a natural progression for the character. Up until "Crisis on Infinite Earths," Alex had worked for the Department of Extranormal Operations (DEO). However, when Lex rewrote reality to become head of the DEO, Alex quit. Ever since, she has felt adrift. This -- and her father's death -- eventually drove her into Obsidian's virtual reality, where she masqueraded as Supergirl. Although it eventually went terribly wrong, the experience helped her develop a taste for helping others as a vigilante as opposed to a government agent. As such, it isn't a surprise to see Alex adopting her own vigilante persona.

Airing Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers, David Harewood as Martian Manhunter and Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers. The Season 5 finale will air May 17.
