WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Shazam! #11, by Geoff Johns, Scott Kolins, Michael Atiyeh and Rob Leigh on sale now from DC.

Shazam! #10 brought back Superboy-Prime, one of the most dangerous villains in the DC Universe. However, there was some question as to how Superboy-Prime would get free of his imprisonment in the Monsterlands' Dungeon of Eternity, since Mister Mind and Doctor Sivana showed no interest in helping the unstable villain. In Shazam! #11, Superboy-Prime gets free due to their actions, and he's got his sights set on Billy Batson.

The latest issue of the series primarily pits the Shazam Family against The Wizard, who betrayed Billy by attacking C.C. Batson, the boy's father. When the action does move back to the Monsterlands, Sivana stabs himself in the eye with a lightning bolt-shaped dagger, which looks very similar to the one belonging to Cicada. The action causes monsters from "across the Seven Magiclands" to become free. However, Superboy-Prime isn't among them at first, much to his consternation.

Doctor Sivana and Mister Mind are freed, and they bring their new Monster Society to fight against the Shazam Family. They're short one member though. This left-behind monster puts out the "little magical red sun" that keeps Superboy-Prime from accessing his powers. In response, the villain breaks free from his cage and destroys the monster, arrogantly declaring, "Stupid idiot. Like I need to team up with you. Like I need to team up with anybody." Superboy-Prime then says he's setting his sights on "Billy Bratson."

Writer Geoff Johns hasn't been shy about his intention to pit the Infinite Crisis villain against the former Captain Marvel, about whom he holds a major grudge for unknown reasons. The villain is among the most dangerous to ever grace the pages of DC, having bested and defeated some of the mightiest heroes in the universe during his various fights against the forces of good. Just why Superboy-Prime has it out for Shazam so badly isn't totally clear, but he's going to have the advantage in their fight, as Billy has hardly had a chance to rest since this arc began. Taking on the Monster Society is only going to bring the hero down more, and that's just when Superboy-Prime is aiming to strike. This means Superboy-Prime is going to do a lot of damage, and that's bad for everyone.

Shazam! #12 releases April 22 from DC.
