Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow is the winner of DC's Round Robin 2022 competition, beating out 15 other potential series.

Written by Kenny Porter (DC Mech, Superman: Man of Tomorrow) and illustrated by Jahnoy Lindsay (Luke Cage: Everyman, Truth & Justice), Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow will now become a six-issue series, first appearing on the digital DC Universe Infinite app later this year before making its way to ComiXology and print. The other finalist in the Round Robin competition was Suicide Squad: Dark, a horror tale featuring Vampire Batman and a variety of other occult heroes. Of the 3,475 votes that were cast for the two series across social media, Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow received 72% of the vote while Suicide Squad: Dark received 28%.

"Thank you to everyone who voted this year!" Porter wrote on Twitter when news of the victory was announced. "There were amazing pitches across the board from the creative teams and [Jahnoy Lindsay] and I can’t wait to bring this to life!" Lindsay echoed this excitement, tweeting: "I have a hard time putting into words all that I’m feeling! Thank you all so much! Since the beginning, the outpour of support and excitement for the series has been overwhelming!! [Kenny Porter] and I can’t wait to share more of this story with y’all!"

This is the second year that DC has run its Round Robin competition, which pits a variety of comic pitches against each other with fans voting on a winner. In 2021, Robins -- a book starring all of Batman's Boy Wonders and Stephanie Brown -- won the top spot. This year, Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow saw itself up against potential series that ranged from an unexpected team-up between Captain Carrot and Darkseid to a book starring Wildcat.

Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow dives into Superboy's identity as the young hero leaves Earth on a journey of self-discovery. The series is the first to star Conner Kent since his 2011 series ended after 11 issues. The synopsis reads, "Determined to find his place in a strange universe, Conner Kent/Superboy leaves Earth behind. But his journey of self-discovery brings him face to face with a group of freedom fighters who challenge not just everything Conner stands for, but what it means to bear the Superman crest."

DC Global Publishing Initiative Senior Editor Katie Kubert said in April that pitches that didn't make the final cut might still be turned into digital series or anthology products in the future. DC recently resurrected a 2021 Round Robin title, Blue Beetle: Graduation Day, and announced more pitches from the 2022 competition will see some sort of publication.
