Don't expect any more fighter passes for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate after Vol. 2.

Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai announced that Ultimate is done with Fighter Passes in his weekly Famitsu column, which appeared on Ryokutya2089 and was later translated by PushDustin. The upcoming Vol. 2 DLC will include six new fighters, but they will be the last additions to the game.

In the column, Sakurai also revealed there are no plans for another Super Smash Bros. game at this time. He added that Vol. 2's fighters were chosen by Nintendo, not him.

The base game boasted a whopping 76 characters, before Fighter Pass Vol. 1 added six more and brought that total up to 82. With Fighter Pass Vol. 2, the game will top off with 88 characters, the most of any games in the Super Smash Bros. franchise. In comparison, the original Super Smash Bros. game -- which debuted on N64 in 1999 -- included only 12 characters overall.
