Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's competitive scene has seen a particularly rough 2020, but there is some incredible single-player content in the game. World of Light features a range of bosses for players to face. Many of these fights are staples of the Smash series, like Master Hand and Crazy Hand, while others are entirely original ones designed to give both Adventure Mode and Classic Mode a little extra flare.

With 11 different boss fights in the game, here are the five most well-designed, difficult and enjoyable fights.

1. Giga Bowser

Giga Bowser is an original creation for the Smash Bros. series that was introduced in Melee. Giga Bowser originally appeared as a possible enemy in the game's Classic Mode, where he had to be knocked off the stage just like a normal CPU fighter. His Melee boss fight is notoriously difficult, and while he has appeared as a part of Bowser's Final Smash, Ultimate marks his first return as a boss.

His fight isn't as difficult as it was in Melee, though that doesn't mean players should overlook the massive amount of knockback and damage he can dish out. Giga Bowser sports an Ultimate-styled redesign, giving Melee fans a wonderful callback to enjoy. In an era where Nintendo seems to want people to forget Melee exists and plenty of fans are looking for an alternative to Smash as a result, it's nice to see Sakurai pay homage to what many call their favorite Smash game.

2. Marx

It's actually surprising that the Kirby series hasn't received a new Smash character since Brawl considering Masahiro Sakurai created both Smash Bros. and Kirby. Still, Kirby fans were in for a surprise with Ultimate, as the game features a prominent boss first introduced in Kirby Superstar as the final fight of Kirby's Classic Mode. Marx's boss fight in Ultimate is a near faithful recreation of his fight from Superstar, with plenty of bullet hell-inspired attacks.

Marx was also given an array of new attacks for his appearance in Ultimate. These include turning his eyes into black bouncing projectiles, enlarging his pupils to fire lasers at the player and even spreading black tendrils across the screen. Marx serves as a faithful final boss to represent the Kirby series -- and something of a frightful fight, given his jester-like appearance.

3. Dracula

With Simon Belmont and Richter Belmont making their playable debut in Ultimate, it's only fitting that one of the most iconic final bosses in video game history comes along with them. What makes Dracula such an incredible boss fight is the level of detail and care that was put into the fight. Dracula's model is a faithful 3D recreation of his regal appearance from the Castlevania series, and the fight as a whole takes heavy inspiration from Symphony of the Night.

This love-letter to Castlevania fans is complete with Dracula recreating the introduction to his Symphony of the Night fight, sipping from a wine glass of blood before throwing it to the ground. There's also the fact that players can only damage Dracula in his first form by attacking his head. Dracula is without a doubt one of the most iconic final bosses in gaming, so it's great to see Smash Ultimate pay its respects.

4. Dharkon / Galeem

The Smash series has iconic final bosses like Master Hand and Taboo, so the two new bosses created for Smash Ultimate certainly had a large legacy to uphold. Fortunately, Dharkon and Galeem's combined final boss fight in World of Light does not disappoint. Their combined attack patterns are synced together in a way that makes them a fitting nightmare to cap off Ultimate's Adventure Mode.

Their World of Light final boss fight specifically makes this list due to how well they're paired. For example, one of them might slow time while the other unleashes a flurry of bullets that move at normal speed. There are a few saving graces with the difficulty of this fight -- like how if one becomes stunned the other will begin to attack it -- but otherwise, Dharkon and Galeem are a difficult challenge worthy of being Ultimate's final boss.

5. Master Hand

A classic final boss, Master Hand has been a staple of the Smash series ever since the beginning. His boss fight in Ultimate is one of the most frequent ones in the game, as Master Hand and/or Crazy Hand caps off a majority of Classic Mode routes. He's not the most difficult fight in the game. Still, there's something iconic about a good Master Hand boss fight in a Smash game -- and Ultimate delivers on this front.
