Keanu Reeves is voicing Batman in DC League of Super-Pets.

A new trailer for the upcoming animated film reveals that the star known for action-packed franchises like John Wick and The Matrix will be voicing the caped crusader, marking his first superhero role. The movie will feature a number of Hollywood stars, including Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Krypto the Superdog and Kevin Hart as Ace the Bat-Hound. In the trailer, Ace can be seen brooding with Reeves' Batman before the two embrace one another.

The trailer pokes fun at Batman's serious nature and previous adaptations. While the score to 1989's Batman can be heard, Reeves' Batman claims to work alone before listing off a number of his allies, including "whoever Morgan Freeman played." Freeman portrayed Lucius Fox throughout The Dark Knight trilogy starring actor Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

The news that Reeves will be a new Batman comes at a time when the caped crusader has resurged in popularity, thanks to his latest live-action blockbuster. A few days before the new DC League of Super-Pets trailer dropped, The Batman hit theaters with Robert Pattinson donning the cowl for the first time. Though the film did not see an opening weekend as large as The Dark Knight or The Dark Knight Rises, fans have praised the film, with some debating online whether this is the best Batman ever seen onscreen.

Now there will be another Batman joining the ranks of several to appear in theaters this year. In addition to Reeves and Pattinson, actors Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton will be reprising their respective Batmen in the upcoming The Flash starring Ezra Miller. While Affleck appears to be done with the cowl following the movie, Keaton's caped crusader has been spotted on the set of Batgirl alongside J.K. Simmons' Commissioner Gordon.

Of course, Reeves also joins half of the "World's Finest" duo from DC Comics: Batman and Superman. Superman will be voiced in DC League of Super-Pets by The Office and Jack Ryan actor John Krasinski. The whole Justice League is set to be in the movie as well, but it is unclear at the present moment who its other members will be voiced by. The film will also feature the vocal talents of Vanessa Bayer, Kate McKinnon, Jameela Jamil and Ben Schwartz.

DC League of Super-Pets is set to release May 20, 2022.
