Super-Con Takes Over the Oakland Convention Center May 20th & 21st

Oakland, CA, May 20 & 21, 2006 – Super-Con, the East Bay's largest comic book and pop-culture convention is coming to the Oakland Convention Center. This year's event is dramatically expanded from prior years, featuring a large selection of dealers selling comic books, original comic art and all types of memorabilia, as well as publishers and exhibitors such as Image Comics (Spawn, Savage Dragon), Atomika/Mercury Comics, Syphon Filter Games, Inc., Anime, Inc. and Bongo Comics (the Simpsons). Comic book creators will also be prominently in attendance. Confirmed guests include: Adam Hughes (DC cover artist extraordinaire), Alex Nino (Satan's Tears), Bill Sienkiewicz (Elektra), Ken Kelly (famed fantasy painter), Charles Vess (Stardust by Neil Gaiman -- soon to be a major motion picture), Travis Charest (Star Wars cover artist), Michael Bair (Batman & Identity Crisis), Jim Silke (Bettie Page pinup artist), Aaron Lopresti (X-Men), Dan Brereton (Giantkiller based in Contra Costa County), Arthur Adams (Godzilla), Sergio Aragones (long time Mad Magazine contributor), Ernie Chan (Conan), Darick Robertson (Wolverine), Tony DeZuniga (Jonah Hex), Buzz (Vampirella), Ryan Sook (X-Men) and in his first United States appearance, European Superstar, Jordi Bernet. The show will also feature the appearance of media guests, Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar from Star Trek: TNG), Marta Kristen (Judy Robinson from the original Lost in Space) and Playboy Playmate, Tiffany Taylor.

Events include portfolio reviews by established professionals, a costume contest judged by our celebrity guests, and on-site grading of comic books by CGC. Super-Con is also an official Robotech Tour Stop.

Located at 10th & Broadway adjacent to the Marriott Hotel, the Convention Center is an easy one block walk from the 12th Street/City Center BART station and has ample parking.
