I decided to revive Bill Reed's "Sunday Brunch" link-post because I was going to do a link-post and thought he had a perfectly good name lying around and he hasn't been using it. So if Bill wants the name back, I'll be happy to give it to him, but for now, let's check out some links! Some of these are comic-related, but there's also some pop culture stuff in there too. Some weeks I may have more, some less, but this is what I found interesting across the wacky World Wide Web this week!

Let's start with a Not-Safe-For-Work link, shall we? I was reading ComicMix and saw that story, which linked to Coed Topless Pulp Fiction, which might be the greatest thing in the history of humanity. The concept is that because there's no law in New York (and a lot of other states) against females being topless, a group of people (mostly women, although there are a few pictures of bottomless men on the site) hang out in Central Park reading pulp fiction ... topless. Simple, right? If you live in New York, why wouldn't you want to hang out and read pulp fiction while not wearing a shirt?

Speaking of Not-Safe-For-Work Internet goodness, one of my favorite people in comics, Erika Moen, posted about reading Smut Peddlar, an anthology book to which she contributed, and she got a picture of studio-mate Ron Randall looking disapprovingly at her reading porn in the workplace. So her husband made a .gif.

All right, now that we've gotten the NSFW stuff out of the way, here's a list of the ten most needless nerdy controversies of 2012. Man, people like to be outraged, don't they?

Our brothers-in-arms at Robot 6 linked to this post by Joshua Middleton, in which he writes about art criticism. It's pretty interesting.

Speaking of Robot 6, they also have a story about a petition that calls for the cancellation of Avengers Arena. It doesn't seem to be getting many people, but here's the petition, if you think it will help.

The general reading public might not be too worked up over Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie's Young Avengers, but the Internet sure is, and Gillen has posted the first three pages to whet your appetite. As someone on the Internet, I'm extremely keen on reading this, and I hope against hope that it will be a monster success. Both dudes deserve it!

Comics Alliance digs up these tremendous commercials from the 1990s about the launch of the Ultraverse. Holy crap, the Nineties were awesome.

Colin Smith is one of my favorite comics critic, and he he eviscerates Animal Man #16 in this post. I like Colin because he comes at things from a unique perspective and does an excellent job of showing why certain things just don't work. I don't always agree with him, but he's fascinating to read.

Tim Callahan is another critic I really like, and in his latest When Words Collide column, he breaks down the Comic Book Resources "best-of" lists for the past five years. He's a bit harsh on Chew, which I think has been one of the best comics over the past five years, but his thoughts are worth reading.

In more pop culture news, David Brothers has been breaking down Django Unchained in a brilliant series of posts. I haven't even seen the movie yet and I'm riveted. Start here and then go here, here, here, here, and here. Although I suppose you could read them in any order - Brothers is just examining different aspects of the movie, so it's not like they're building on the previous posts too much. I love reading good critical analysis of movies or comics or books or television, so I'm digging these posts.

Finally, I'm sure you all watched or at least recorded the season premiere of Justified (you did, didn't you?), and you can catch up on the infinite wisdom of Raylan Givens right here in case you've forgotten some of his better bon mots. I watch Justified in a block after I record every episode, so it will be a few months before I get to watch it, but I'm looking forward to it! The lack of Jeremy Davies and his hair this season is a bit disappointing, though - let's hope he's back next year!

That's it for this week - I know it's not a lot, but that's the way it is. I used to do these on my old blog, and those got ridiculously long - maybe I'll get a week where the links overwhelm me! If you don't have time to surf the web because you have, you know, a real job, I hope I can help you out every Sunday!
