'Suicide Squad's' Scott Eastwood Straps in For 'Fast 8'

On the heels of Charlize Theron, "Suicide Squad" actor Scott Eastwood has boarded Universal Pictures 'Fast 8."

Deadline doesn't provide any details about the role, other than to say he'll play "an exciting new character."

Eastwood, the son of Hollywood icon Clint Eastwood, joins franchise newcomers Theron and Kristofer Hivju ("Game of Thrones") in the eighth installment of the blockbuster series. Veterans Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Jason Statham reprise their roles in the sequel, directed by F. Gary Gray ("Straight Outta Compton").

Eastwood's film credits also include "Gran Torino," "Fury" and the upcoming "Snowden."
