The Suicide Squad director James Gunn recently doubled down on his claim Nathan Fillion's T.D.K. survived at the end of the film and could return for a future project within the DC Extended Universe.

"#TDK was definitely alive last we saw him," Gunn wrote in response to Twitter user Charlie Rengel. In his original post, Rengel shared a GIF of Fillion's character and wrote, "There's a theory that TDK is still alive, and I'm sure a lot of people would like see Nathan Fillion again."

In Gunn's The Suicide Squad, "The Detachable Kid" was depicted as having limb-detaching powers and was a member of the Task Force X "B-Team" -- which was sent as a distraction while the "A-Team" arrived on the other side of Corto Maltese unnoticed. Fans will specifically recall that, during the shootout with the Corto Maltesean troops, T.D.K.'s detached arms were shot and he lost a lot of blood.

While it was initially believed the character didn't survive the attack, Gunn previously addressed rumors that T.D.K. was a goner following the film's release. "Important to note if you look at the life signals in the Comms hub TDK isn't dead," Gunn confirmed during a Twitter watch party for the film in August. Fillion also chimed in at the time, tweeting, "I noticed that very loudly when I saw this in the theater. Apologies again, for the disturbance."

Gunn and Fillion continued to debate T.D.K.'s status throughout the watch party, with Gunn explaining at one point, "... You're very much alive if you're looking at the monitors. During the credits, you very clearly are still alive, and we even see you. You know you're spitting up blood. It's definitely not a great place to be health-wise, but you're not dead. You're breathing."

While it's unclear at this time if and when T.D.K. will return to the DCEU, a new trailer for Gunn's upcoming Peacemaker series revealed that fellow Task Force X member Peacemaker (John Cena) has been staying busy. In addition to showcasing Peacemaker's extensive helmet collection, the new trailer highlights the character's tense relationship with his father, as well as his ongoing ethical struggles. The trailer also showed Harry Potter alum Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante and Robert Patrick as Peacemaker's father Auggie Smith, as well returning characters John Economos (Steve Agee) and Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland).

Written and directed by Gunn, The Suicide Squad is available now on DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital HD and returns to HBO Max on Dec. 23. Peacemaker premieres on the streaming platform on Jan. 13.
