David Ayer, director of 2016's Suicide Squad, shared an image featuring another design he had in mind for Harley Quinn.
In the final version of Ayer's Suicide Squad, Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn is shown sporting a t-shirt/short shorts combo with pulled-back pigtails. The alternative design shows Quinn with an open top and long bangs.
Guardians of Galaxy director James Gunn is directing the upcoming DC film, The Suicide Squad, which will be a soft reboot of Ayer's film. Ayer has applauded Warner Bros.' decision to hire Gunn. The Suicide Squad is set to release on Aug. 6, 2021.
Margot Robbie will reprise her role as Harley Quinn in both The Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).
Ayer is said to be working on a sequel to his 2017 Netflix film Bright, which starred Will Smith, Joel Edgerton and Noomi Rapace. The director is also set direct a remake of the 1967 film, The Dirty Dozen.
