A newly released video from James Gunn shows the filmmaker's brother Sean Gunn perfecting his motion-capture performance as Weasel in The Suicide Squad.

Gunn posted footage of "the first ever screen test" of Sean Gunn as Weasel on his Instagram. The footage shows the brothers developing Weasel's movements together, with Sean Gunn hobbling around a sound stage in a motion capture suit while vocalizing Weasel's disturbing shrieks and whimpers. The crew can be heard laughing at the absurdity of the shoot, with both Gunns losing and regaining composure at certain points.

Weasel quickly became a standout character in The Suicide Squad, with the obscure DC Comics villain becoming the subject of several viral memes. Gunn, who has frequently shared exclusive insight into the making of The Suicide Squad on both his Instagram and his Twitter since the movie came out, also revealed that the film version of Weasel was inspired by Bill the Cat from Berkeley Breathed's Bloom County comic strip.

Gunn also often responds to fan theories, recently debunking a theory that Calendar Man (also played by Sean Gunn in the film) bullying David Dastmalchian's Polka-Dot Man was a not to Dastmalchian previously voicing the calendar-themed villain in the animated adaptation of Batman: The Long Halloween.

The filmmaker isn't quite done with the world of The Suicide Squad just yet, with the upcoming Peacemaker HBO Max series, which features John Cena reprising his role from The Suicide Squad, slated to premiere in 2022. Gunn is also working on another DC project but he is currently keeping the details close to his chest as he prepares to shoot the long-delayed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 for Marvel Studios and Disney.

Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad is now available on digital platforms and will be released for home media Oct. 26.
