WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Suicide Squad #11 by Tom Taylor, Bruno Redondo, Adriano Lucas and Wes Abbott, on sale now.

Suicide Squad by Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo introduced a new team of superpowered, international freedom fighters called the Revolutionaries. At the start of the series, the team was caught, and they were all added to the roster of the Suicide Squad. The truth was, however, that the team had orchestrated this entire sequence of events because their principal goal was actually to infiltrate the Task Force X program and take it all down from within.

Eventually, this new Suicide Squad went on the run from the man in charge of the program: Black Mask, who was secretly posing as Ted Kord. Now, in Suicide Squad #11, which serves as the final issue of the series, the Revolutionaries finally complete their mission and shut the Task Force X program down for good.

In Suicide Squad #11, the team is successful in defeating Black Mask and saving the island of Badhnisia. With the situation finally resolved, the Justice League shows up to clean up the mess, and take Black Mask into custody. But while Batman also intends to take the Revolutionaries in, they are granted freedom by the President of Badhnisia. With the Dark Knight outside of his jurisdiction, he has no choice but to let them go.

Previously, Suicide Squad members Deadshot and Harley Quinn fought alongside the Revolutionaries but this is no longer the case. Deadshot was tragically killed by Black Mask, while Harley Quinn quits the team shortly after Badhnisia is saved.

But the Revolutionaries' fight continues. Next, they kidnap every fat cat and politician who was ever involved with the Task Force X program. These are the men and women who financed the operation, who covered for it, and who used it for their own purposes. The Revolutionaries have every file and all the evidence proving these people's involvement with the program, and they threaten to release it all should anything happen to them. As of now, the Task Force X program is, for all intents and purposes, over.

The Revolutionaries found all of the people behind the program, and they put their foot down, telling them it was all over. Therefore, this really appears to be the end of the Suicide Squad. After all, Deadshot and Harley Quinn, the last two remaining members of the Squad dating back to the last nine years, are gone. And the program itself has been forcefully shutdown. Now, all that remains are the Revolutionaries, and they aren't about to let the Suicide Squad be built back up.

This is undoubtedly a huge shift for DC and the Suicide Squad title but is it really the end? That still seems unlikely. After all, the Suicide Squad is one of the staples of the DC Universe, which means it's bound to return in one form or another, sooner or later. Indeed, we already know that the upcoming DC Future State, which takes place in the future, will feature a new version of the Suicide Squad.

There most certainly will always be a Suicide Squad but what isn't known yet is who will be behind the next iteration? Amanda Waller could always return to try and do things right, or another shadowy organization could be behind the next team. However it happens, and whoever is behind it, it's likely the DC Universe will not be without a Suicide Squad for very long.
