A new behind-the-scenes featurette from James Gunn's upcoming The Suicide Squad film reveals the first look at Calendar Man.The featurette confirms that Sean Gunn, brother of writer/director James Gunn, is playing Julian Day, aka Calendar Man. Based on the brief snippet of footage, Gunn's Calendar Man is exceptionally comic book accurate, largely seen through the precise placement of his head tattoos. Gunn was previously confirmed for The Suicide Squad as the CGI John Munroe, also known as Weasel.

Calendar Man's role in The Suicide Squad is currently unknown, although fans speculate that the casting indicates a more comedic tone for the character. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sean Gunn is known for his role as Kraglin Obfonteri, the first mate of the Yondu Ravager Clan in the Guardians of the Galaxy films.

Calendar Man is a classic villain in the DC universe, created by Bill Finger and Sheldon Moldoff and debuting in 1958's Detective Comics #259. The character is a criminal known for committing crimes on significant days of the year, usually popular holidays. He serves as one of the central villains in the classic crime thriller Batman: The Long Halloween, which is currently being released as a two-part animated film.

Calendar Man is also known by mainstream audiences for his cameo in the Batman: Arkham games. Julain Day can be discovered in Arkham City, where he responds to Batman with different voice lines based on the date saved to the console or PC.

The Suicide Squad begins streaming on HBO Max on Aug. 6. The film features a variety of characters fans will recognize from David Ayer's Suicide Squad, including Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) and Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney). It also introduces plenty of new characters, such as Bloodsport (Idris Elba), King Shark (Sylvester Stallone) and Peacemaker (John Cena).
