During a panel for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League at DC's FanDome event, Rocksteady Studios Creative Director Sefton Hill revealed the game will take place in the same universe as the Batman: Arkham series.

Additional details about how Kill the Justice League will connect to the Batman: Arkham games weren't divulged. However, other details about the game were revealed. Kill the Justice League is a hybrid of previous Rocksteady games with gunplay added in and will also feature a lot of variety in the moves of the game's playable characters. The game will be co-op, allowing for up to four players to take on the Justice League together.

Developed by Rocksteady Studios, the Batman: Arkham series began in 2009 with Batman: Arkham Asylum. Since then, there have been four core games, with 2015's Batman: Arkham Knight being the most recent.

A Suicide Squad video game was first announced at Comic-Con International: San Diego in 2010. At the time, the Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment project was described by then-DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns as "hardcore violent." However, while work was apparently underway on the game, it was overshadowed by the Batman: Arkham series.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is slated for release in 2022.
