Despite mixed critical reaction, "Suicide Squad" continues its ascent up the all-time domestic box office record list. The film just took "Iron Man's" #50 spot on Box Office Mojo's list, with a total of $318,584,857.

As far as superhero movies go, this is a respectable achievement, though there remains a few other comic book-inspired movies ahead of "Suicide Squad" on the list, and it's some rather stiff competition: "Guardians Of The Galaxy" at #45 with $333,176,600; "Deadpool" at #34 with $363,070,709; and "Captain America: Civil War" at #19 with $408,084,349. The highest domestic grossing superhero film is "The Avengers" at #5 overall, with $623,357,910.

"Suicide Squad" has been making a proverbial killing overseas as well, bringing in $413,000,00 in foreign markets. This brings the film's worldwide total to $731,584,857, making for plenty of return on Warner Brothers' investment.

The monetary success is a boon, as it puts Warner Brothers in an advantageous position for financing further films in the DC Extended Universe. Whether those movie plans include a sequel to Suicide Squad isn't known, as of yet; there have been a few rumors, but nothing definitive announced.

As for Warner Brothers' known future releases, "Wonder Woman" is coming to theaters Jun. 2017, "Justice League," in Nov. 2017, and "The Flash" in Mar. 2018.
