Meet The Suicide Squad.

James Gunn, who will write and direct the upcoming DC Extended Universe film, revealed the movie's cast on Instagram with a word of warning: "Don't get too attached." Though the image announces the actors attached to the project, it doesn't reveal which character each star will play.

The image includes the following names, in no particular order: David Dastmalchian, John Cena, Jai Courtney, Joaquin Cosio, Nathan Fillion, Joel Kinnaman, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Sean Gunn, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi, Alice Braga, Steve Agee, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Peter Capaldi, Julio Ruiz, Jennifer Holland, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Margot Robbie and Michael Rooker.

Robbie, Davis, Kinnaman and Courtney all appeared in the first Suicide Squad film, which released in 2016. It seems likely they will reprise their roles from the first movie.

Likewise, many of these stars have been rumored to join the film. Reports claim Dastmalchian will play Polka-Dot Man, Agee will voice King Shark, Elba will fill the role of Bronze Tiger, Melchior will play Ratcatcher and Cena will portray Peacemaker. However, none of these rumors have been confirmed, by this image or otherwise, at the time of writing.

Previous reports also slated Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi, Pitch Perfect 2's Flula Borg, A Wrinkle in Time's Storm Reid, Firefly's Nathan FillionDoctor Who alum Peter Capaldi and Saturday Night Live's Pete Davidson for mysterious roles. Ng, Botto, Braga, Kajese, Ruiz and Holland appear to be surprise additions to the project, while Rooker previously denied any involvement with the film.

Considering Gunn's warning, not all of these characters will last very long. As such, don't be surprised to see some actors make short cameo appearances, as their characters fall victim to the team's titular creed.

Notably, the image also gives The Suicide Squad a new logo. It takes direct inspiration from the original comic book logo, as it appeared on John Ostrander and Luke McDonnell's Suicide Squad #1 in 1987.

Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters Aug. 6, 2021. Several cast members from 2016's Suicide Squad will reprise their roles, including Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg and Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang. Also joining the cast are David Dastmalchian, John Cena, Joaquin Cosio, Nathan Fillion, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Sean Gunn, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi, Alice Braga, Steve Agee, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Peter Capaldi, Julio Ruiz, Jennifer Holland, Idris Elba and Michael Rooker.
