Released in 2016, director David Ayer's Suicide Squad gave viewers a look at the volatile nature of the Joker and Harley Quinn's relationship. In fact, one scene that seemingly featured the Joker rescuing Harley Quinn was originally intended to be much darker.A Twitter user recently asked Ayer about the scene in question, which saw the Joker and Harley flying away from a gun battle via helicopter: "A while back, it was rumored that Joker intended to push [Harley Quinn] out of the chopper to kill her... any truth to that [David Ayer]?" Ayer simple replied, "He pushed her." RELATED: The Suicide Squad's Title Was Originally Just a Joke

The user also included the hashtag #ReleasetheAyerCut, which fans have been using in hopes of prompting Warner Bros. to release a finished version Ayer's original vision for Suicide Squad.

Regardless of whether or not the "Ayer Cut" will ever see the light of day, however, several characters from Suicide Squad will return in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad. It was also recently announced that an upcoming theatrical re-release of Inception may include a preview of Gunn's reboot.
