ABC has announced the premiere date of its adaptation of the Oni Press comic book Stumptown, starring Colbie Smulders.

Deadline has the rundown on ABC's upcoming fall TV schedule, which will see the return of a number of shows alongside a small batch of new series. Among them will be Stumptown, based on the acclaimed comic book series of the same name by writer Greg Rucka and artist Matthew Southworth. Though it only debuted in 2009, the comic has already gained a sterling reputation. On Sept. 25, fans will be able to see lead character Dex brought to life by Smulders.

Stumptown will debut on ABC Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 10 p.m. EST. The series will follow a night of comedies, including Modern Family and The Goldbergs. Along with Stumptown, this fall will also see Mixed-ish and Emergence debut on Sept. 24 and a new version of Kids Say the Darndest Things on Oct. 6. Check out the full ABC fall lineup below:

Taking place in Portland, OR, Stumptown follows private investigator Dex (Smulders), an ex-military gambling addict with a quick wit and complex history. Aside from following a night of family comedies, Stumptown's biggest challenge might be distinguishing itself from Netflix's Jessica Jones, a comic adaptation about a similarly acerbic PI. But with the Marvel series canceled at Netflix, ABC's new show could fill a void for audiences.

Joining Smulders, who's familiar with both ABC and comic book work thanks to her time playing Maria Hill in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., will be joined by another Marvel alum. Jake Johnston has joined Stumptown, swinging from voice work in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse to something a little grittier.

Stumptown will premiere Wednesday, Sept. 25 on ABC.
